plays by Will Owen contemporary dramatic poetry |
The purpose of this site is to present my works for the theater to all who may be interested in staging them.
My plays should most interest those intent on creating, for the members of an audience, an experience-at-the-theater that includes the dimension that only poetry performed can convey.
The scripts of my plays are on-line here: www.willow-n.com
I cordially invite you, and all lovers-of-the-theater, to visit, and consider my work.
My plays should, in addition, interest all who share the conviction that comedy and poetry, in our time's global idiom, English, can thrive together onstage. The plots of the plays -- replete with mistaken identities, disguises, chases, and crossed lovers -- work with the stock set-ups of comedy. This should make my plays of interest also to all who share the conviction that the unabashedly theatrical sells tickets, keeps people in their seats to find out what happens, and prompts them to tell their friends to come see the show too.
In the boxes below, on the left is a blurb about each play, and on the right is a link to the script. Each play is published here in a single .htm file. All begin with a presentation of key information about the work -- synopsis, cast breakdown, production requirements, etc.
Inquiries are most welcome from English-speaking theaters -- professional, student and amateur -- from everywhere on the globe.
I can be reached by email at willow_nts@hotmail.com -- willow_nts@hotmail.com.
I am a member of the Dramatists Guild of America, and professional productions must adhere to Dramatists Guild standards relating to respect for intellectual property rights, payment of royalties, etc.
Downloading these works implies accepting the terms of the copyright acknowledgement -- that the author owns hizer own work etc. (see the Dramatist Guild's Author's Bill of Rights for a concise summary of the matter).
This site was last updated Saturday 1 March 2008.
Thank you. I am much obliged to you for whatever time and attention you give my work.
Sincerely, Will Owen
